Support Mt Vernon Park by donating your time. 

 

Join our team of volunteers! We need people to help with the upkeep of the park and our projects.

  • Predator Free Mt Vernon - pest species control and eradication

  • Trail work - maintenance and upgrades

  • Restoration - planting and plant release

  • Farm jobs - thistle grubbing and pest species removal

Thursday Sessions

Keen to help our landscape?

Join our regular weekly volunteer group each Thursday at 12:30.

Volunteers undertake a range of land management tasks, if interested and you have a good level of fitness please get in touch.

We are wanting to show how the landscape of Mt Vernon Park and the surrounding valleys have changed.

 

Why

We have been actively protecting the environment and restoring the valleys with Banks Peninsula sourced native vegetation for almost forty years. Photo records can help us show how we as a community have supported nature.

2023 Community Awards

We are very proud of Poma and Alan McDonald in the work they do in supporting the care and management of Mt Vernon. Both were recently recognised for their efforts in the Waihoro Spreydon Cashmere Heathcote Community Awards 2023.

Mt Vernon Park is located in the Port Hills of Christchurch.

 

Main entrance carpark at the end of Hillsborough Tce, Hillsborough 8022, Christchurch.

​

Entrance also at the end Albert Terrace, off Rapaki Track, Summit Road, Huntsbury Reserve, and Huia Gilpin Reserve.

​

Carpark gates are open between 7am and 7pm year round.
